About My Teaching |
About Me |
I have worked in education since 1997. I have been a teacher's aid, ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) educator, after school instructor, substitute, and classroom teacher. I have taught in three different states and everything from Birth to 8th grade. Currently I teach 5th grade. In addition to my Teaching credentials I also have a minor in Mathematics and a certificate in Deaf Ministry. But, my passion is Science. I enjoy learning and teaching everything from Nature to Robotics. I believe students should be outdoors as much as possible AND they should also be equipped with a firm understanding of technology. These two topics seem at odds with one another but together they build a very well rounded student. In the classroom I believe in strong expectations with known outcomes (both behaviorally and academically). I do my best to create structured routines to help all students focus on their learning! Please feel free to message me through Dojo anytime. I will do my best to respond within 24 hours. I am hard of hearing, so Dojo is the quickest and easiest way to get ahold of me. Because of my hearing loss, students who choose to wear a mask in class will need a clear mask.

I have an amazing family. My husband and I have four beautiful daughters and one granddaughter (pictured above). I was born in Florida and have lived in several southern states. After getting married, my husband and I moved to northern Minnesota for about 15 years. In 2016 we moved here to Rapid City and plan to retire in South Dakota. We love the outdoors and it is a perfect fit for us. In my free time I enjoy fishing, hunting, gardening, sewing, baking, and spending time with my family.
These are a few of my favorite things: Dr. Pepper, Sweet Tea, Salty Snacks, Asian Cuisine, Star Wars, & Daffodils (specifically Narcissus). |
